February 22, 2012 –For the third year in a row, Runner’s Magazine, a popular German running magazine, named The Portland Marathon one of its Top 10 World International Marathons. Other events listed in the category, include marathons in Tokyo, Sidney, Dubai, Hong Kong, London, New York, Boston and Chicago.

The Windermere Marathon is proud to announce a new component to our race.  Any participant that would like to join the Run For the Cause to raise money for the Windermere Foundation can get their race entry fee waived!  The Windermere Foundation was created to support local assistance programs for low-income and homeless families. What started in 1989 as a grassroots foundation serving families in need in Washington state, has grown to ten states and has raised over $23 million for programs and organizations that provide shelter, clothing, children’s programs, emergency assistance and other services to those who need our help the most.
